In Cubase for instance you can use GoldenGate for several purposes: - gating drums or other instruments - noise gating - shorten the length of sounds - synchronized gating (side chain) GoldenGate supports softgating and full parameter automation. In a multitrack environment where effects can be applied in real-time simultaneously on multiple audio channels you can use up to 16 sync channels ("patch cables" between different gates).
